REVERSE BALAYAGE APPLICATION!

In this week’s exclusive full length video blog post, I’ll be sharing how to create a lived-in and melted balayage result when starting from lighter or over processed hair!

Here is a breakdown of the steps you’ll see in the video tutorial:

  1. Identify the natural level.

  2. Assess the previously colored hair then identify the color levels of artificial color.

  3. Choose a lowlight formula one shade lighter, and one shade warmer than her natural base.

  4. If necessary, choose a low strength lightener to remove any banding or copper areas.

  5. Pre-section the head making sure to keep in mind the hair that falls at the perimeter should be the lightest.

  6. Working from lowest hanging layers, balayage and lowlight according to the dimension needed in each section.

  7. Formulate a fill/gloss for in between the foils if needed.  This gloss should be one to two shades lighter than your lowlight.

  8. After processing, use a post color treatment and shampoo once.

  9. Rough dry the hair.

  10.  Write out the melt formula from roots to ends after assessing the results from steps one through seven.

  11.  Apply the root color past the line of demarcation.

  12.  Apply the second formula to the ends and then melt into root color.

  13.  Process and then use post color treatment for five minutes.

  14.  If necessary, you can always apply a final global gloss if you need to refine more tone.

  15.  Finish and style!

Let me know if you have any questions! Hope you love the video!

XOXO
